My videos explore the tropes and legacies that intervene in experience of place and place-based identity. I'm interested in the disjunctures that arise from mismatched cultural frameworks, the vagaries of memory, geographical distance, and physical change. My paintings riff off tropes that act like shorthand for emotions and experiences, abstracting them into imaginary worlds where not everything needs to make sense, leaving room for the seemingly incongruous to co-exist.
